Our Pro-Life History
Members of the Knights of Columbus, Van Nuys Council 3148, have always been active in the Pro-Life movement. In the last 25 years, however, we've been active in fundraising for pro-life causes thanks to the direction of our Brother Charles Howe who passed away in 2012. Brother Howe's legacy has raised thousands of dollars for pro-life activities and through his efforts, connected the Van Nuys Council with the Pregnancy Counseling Center of Mission Hills.
Plans for the first March for Life started in May of 2003. Past Grand Knight John Riordan, Pro-life Chairman, Past Grand Knight John Costello and Julie Ball, Director of the Pregnancy Counseling Center started planning the March and through their efforts and the efforts of the members of the Van Nuys council the first annual March for Life was held in Los Angeles in March of 2004.
In 2015 the LA March for Life merged with OneLife LA. Members of our Council and Councils throughout Souther California volunteer to support and/or attend this event.
OneLife LA
We invite you to join us on January 22, 2022 in downtown Los Angeles to take a stand for the right to life for all. The LA March for Life was an ecumenical event that was brought to you by the Knights of Columbus Council 3148 and is now part of OneLife LA. The purpose of the event is to raise awareness of the plight of the unborn as well as the sanctity of life from conception to natural death.

40 Days for Life
40 Days for Life is an internationally coordinated 40-day campaign that aims to end abortion locally through prayer and fasting, community outreach, and a peaceful all-day vigil in front of abortion businesses.
